Sheridan Jets and Cheyenne Sixers Will Play for a Baseball Title

The 2026 Wyoming American Legion Baseball Division 1 State Tournament in Gillette is down to two teams. On Day 4, the Sheridan Jets knocked off their counterparts, the Sheridan Troopers, 9-2, and the Cheyenne Sixers defeated the Powell Pioneers, 10-1. The Jets and Sixers will play for the championship at noon on Tuesday.

The Jets won their third straight elimination game on Monday. They led 2-0. The Troopers rallied to tie the game at 2-2, but the Jets scored 7 runs in the top of the 7th inning to pull away and spring the upset. The Troopers were considered one of the favorites entering the state tournament, but it will be the Jets in the title game on Tuesday. Mickey Gillis had a 3-run double, and Aaron Baures added a 2-run double in the big seventh inning. That allowed the Jets some breathing room, and they closed it out on a fielder's choice at second base.

The Cheyenne Sixers had already clinched a spot in the championship game on Tuesday with a win over the Sheridan Troopers on Sunday night. They stayed undefeated with the 10-1 victory on Monday. Cheyenne scored 5 runs in the first inning to set the tone. Gage Broda had a 2-run double to left field that opened the scoring. An error led to two more runs, and a bases-loaded walk added the fifth run. The Sixers tacked on 5 more runs in the third and fourth innings to close the game out early. Broda went 2-3 with 3 RBIs. Tyler Cassat was the winning pitcher. He allowed only 1 run on 3 hits over four innings pitched.

The Cheyenne Sixers will face the Sheridan Jets in the Division 1 State Tournament title game at noon on Tuesday. The Sixers will need one win to claim the championship, while the Jets will need two victories to win it all.
