Big Piney’s Reuben Stoutenburg joined the 1,000-point club on the basketball court during the 2023-24 season, his senior campaign. Stoutenburg was an all-state selection in 2024 and a two-time all-conference pick by the coaches in high school. He was a two-year starter and three-year letter-winner for the Punchers.

Stoutenburg helped Big Piney to an appearance at the 2A basketball state tournament this year. He averaged 17.6 points per game and shot 39 percent from the field and 76 percent at the free throw line. Stoutenburg added 7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. The Punchers were 11-16 on the season, took third place at the 2A West Regional tournament, and lost in the consolation trophy game at the state tournament.

As a junior, Reuben averaged 18 points per game and shot 42 percent from the floor. He led Big Piney to a 9-13 overall record in 2022-23. Stoutenburg averaged 6.7 points per game off the bench as a sophomore in the 2021-22 season. The Punchers were 10-14 that season and qualified for the 2A state basketball tournament.

Stoutenburg was also a two-time all-state football player at BPHS. He helped the Punchers win the Class 1A-9 Man state championship in November 2023.
