One of the newest members of the 1,000-point club is Wright senior Briana Meza. Last Friday, Briana reached the scoring plateau in a home game against No. 1 Tongue River. Meza grabbed a bounce pass at the high post on the left side of the lane, spun to her left, went down the right side of the paint, and scored a lay-up for 1,000 points in her prep career. Her teammates set up the play with a timeout, as Meza didn’t know she was that close to the milestone.

The senior averages 12.8 points per game to pace the Panthers in the 2024-25 season. Wright is 10-12 this year. Meza shoots 40 percent from the field and adds 9.4 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.8 steals per game. She leads the Panthers in seven different statistical categories.

Meza is a two-time all-conference selection for Wright. She is a four-year starter and letter-winner for the Panthers.

As a junior in the 2023-24 season, Meza averaged 11.6 points and 7.5 rebounds per game and shot 44 percent from the floor. Wright was 13-13 last year. In her sophomore season of 2022-23, she averaged 9.8 points and six rebounds per game for a 9-16 Panthers squad. Meza scored 9.1 points and grabbed 6.1 rebounds per game as a freshman in the 2021-22 season. Wright was 7-16.
