Douglas standout Trey Rinn will continue with basketball at the next level after signing with Northwest College in Powell, WY. The 6-1 shooting guard was a two-time all-state and three-time all-conference selection in his career at Douglas High School. He was chosen to the conference’s all-defensive team during his junior and senior seasons. Rinn was named the 3A East Conference Player of the Year in 2023. The Bearcats had a 74-10 record during his three seasons at the varsity level.

In his senior season, Rinn led Douglas in rebounding and was second in scoring. He averaged 15.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. Rinn shot 45 percent from the field, 38 percent from 3-point range, and 80 percent at the free-throw line. He added 1.8 assists and 1.9 steals per game. Rinn’s career-best scoring effort was 34 points versus Buffalo in the 3A East Regional tournament championship game. He helped Douglas to a 23-4 record and a third-place finish at the 3A state basketball tournament in the 2023-24 season. Rinn concluded his career with 1,171 points.

As a junior in the 2022-23 campaign, Rinn averaged 17.4 points and 4.8 rebounds per game for a Douglas team that went 27-2 and took third at the state tournament. In his sophomore season of 2021-22, Rinn averaged 8.5 points per game off the bench for the Bearcats, who finished as the 3A runner-up in boys’ basketball at 24-4.

A three-sport standout, Rinn also played football and soccer at DHS. He was a two-time all-state selection in football. He played forward and midfield in soccer for the Bearcats.

Rinn has been selected for the Wyoming-Montana All-Star basketball games on June 14 and 15, 2024, and the North-South All-Star game on July 20, 2024. He played in the Panhandle Prep All-Star game last month. Last week, he played in the 51st annual Wyoming Shrine Bowl All-Star football game.

The Northwest College Trappers were 14-18 last season. They compete in Region IX of the NJCAA.
