Seeking a return to the state tournament for the first time since 2017, the Campbell County Camels are off to a solid start in the 2020 season.

Campbell County is 4-4 thus far. All of their losses are to teams that are ranked in the WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Volleyball Poll. Two to Laramie, plus one each to Cheyenne East and Thunder Basin.

Four seniors set the tone for the Camels. Shaelea Milliron and Lauryn Love are the top two on the squad in kills with 39 and 30, respectively. Fellow senior Taylor Fischer leads Campbell County in service aces 15 and digs with 89.

WyoPreps spoke with head coach Marcy Befus and Fischer after a recent match at Laramie in the above video. Both discussed the loss to the Lady Plainsmen but also what they’ve learned about the team in the first three weeks, what needs work, and how it is competing in Class 4A this season.

The Camels return to action on Friday and Saturday against Kelly Walsh and Sheridan.
