Evanston senior Carson Van Gieson is taking his football talent to the next level after signing with Crown College earlier this month.

Van Gieson played offensive and defensive line and was an all-conference selection in the 2022 season for the Red Devils. He also served as one of the team captains. Van Gieson was a three-year letter winner at EHS and has been picked for the South Team in the 50th Wyoming Shrine Bowl this summer.

A multi-sport athlete, Van Gieson also wrestled and participated in track and field. He was a four-year letterman on the wrestling mat and served as a team captain during his senior year. In wrestling, Carson was the 4A West Region champion at 285 pounds and placed sixth at the 4A state championships in 2022. As a senior in 2023, Van Gieson was runner-up at the 3A West Regionals and placed fourth in 3A at the state championships.

The senior was also chosen as the Homecoming king earlier in the 2022-23 school year at Evanston High School.

In addition to signing for football, Van Gieson was awarded academic scholarships, as well.

Carson said, in a release to WyoPreps, I would like to give thanks to God, my family, coaches, teachers, and everyone who has helped guide me over the years. With my skills and deep compassion to help others, I will represent Wyoming and my family with pride and dignity.

The senior was joined by family and friends, and his paster, Robert Douglas of Aspen Church at his signing.

Crown College is in St. Bonifacius, MN. The school competes at the NCAA Division III level and is a member of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
