Week 8 is the final week of the regular season for high school track and field teams across Wyoming. Two track meets got moved from last Saturday to Monday. Those were in Casper and Riverton. The rest of the week features track meets in Gillette, Douglas, Mountain View, Big Horn, Cody, Pine Bluffs, Thermopolis, Sundance, Kaycee, Jackson, Torrington, and Lander. Some schools are sending athletes to the BYU High School meet in Provo on Friday and Saturday.

MONDAY, APRIL 29:

CHEYENNE INVITE at Central HS in Cheyenne at 10 a.m. – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Torrington.

No team scores were provided.

Girls: Torrington's Brooklyn Asmus won the 100 & 200 meters.

Boys: East's Gavin Neider won the 100 & 200 meters; Torrington's Tyler Bennick won the shot put & discus.

KELLY WALSH INVITE at KWHS in Casper at 10 a.m. – Elite Solutions Academy, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, Southeast, Wheatland.

Girls: Elite Solution's Ashlyn Mundell won the 100 & 200 meters; Wheatland's Lily Nichols won the 400 meters & long jump. 

Boys: KW's Caleb Ortberg won the 400 meters & 110 hurdles.

Girls Team Scores = Laramie 194, Kelly Walsh 182, Natrona County 118.5, Wheatland 66.5, Southeast 63, Elite Solutions Academy (Casper) 20.

ROY PECK RIVERTON INVITATIONAL 2024 at Riverton HS at 9:30 a.m. – Arapahoe Charter, Big Piney, Cody, Dubois, Ft. Washakie, Kemmerer, Lander, Rawlins, Riverton, Shoshoni, St. Stephens, Ten Sleep, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy, Wind River, Worland, Wyoming Indian.

Girls: Worland's Cherise Douzenis won the 100 meters, 200 meters, & long jump; Lander's Adelyn Anderson won the discus & shot put.

No boys won multiple events.

Girls Team Scores = Cody 187.50, Worland 171, Lander 144, Riverton 67, Rawlins 62.50, Wyoming Indian 28, Ten Sleep 8, Shoshoni 3, St. Stephens 1.

TUESDAY, APRIL 30:

CAMEL JV at Campbell County HS in Gillette at 10 a.m. – Campbell County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin.

DOUGLAS VS. BUFFALO DUAL MEET at Douglas HS at 2 p.m.

Girls: Buffalo's Maya Hall won the 800 & 1600 meters; Jaden Meyer of Douglas won the 200 meters & long jump; Buffalo's Carly Norman won both hurdle races; Riley Cook of Douglas won the 100 & 400 meters; Buffalo's Grace Finkle won the shot put & discus.

Boys: Payson Hollingsworth of Douglas won both hurdle races; Douglas won 3 of 4 relays; Tegen Seeds of Douglas won the shot put & discus.

Scores = Buffalo 95, Douglas 51 in girls; Douglas 83, Buffalo 63 in boys.

JEFF HEREFORD INVITATIONAL at Mountain View HS at 2:30 p.m. – Big Piney, Cokeville, Evanston, Green River, Lyman, Mountain View, Rock Springs.

Girls: Presley Nacey of Rock Springs won the 100 meters & 100 hurdles; Big Piney's Jolynn Jones won the 800 & 1600 meters; Mountain View's Addi Hickey won the shot put & discus.

Boys: Kael Anderson of Rock Springs won the 100 meters & long jump.

Girls Team Scores = Rock Springs 153, Big Piney 136, Mountain View & Green River - tied - 92, Lyman 81, Evanston 43.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1:

BIG HORN VS. TONGUE RIVER DUAL MEET at Big Horn HS

Most of the meet was canceled due to the weather.

 

THURSDAY, MAY 2:

CODY TRACKSTRAVAGANZA at Cody HS at noon – Cody, Powell, Sheridan.

Girls: Sheridan's Addie Pendergast won the 100 meters & 300 hurdles; Powell's Waycee Harvey won the 400 meters & long jump; Katie O'Brien of Powell won the shot put & discus.

Boys: Sheridan's Chance Morris won the 100 & 200 meters; Cody's Charlie Hulbert won the 800 & 1600 meters.

Girls Team Scores = Cody 214.50, Sheridan 197, Powell 172.

Boys Team Scores = Sheridan 230, Cody 222.50, Powell 144.50.

PINE BLUFFS FIELD EVENT EXTRAVAGANZA at Pine Bluffs HS at 2 p.m. - Burns, Pine Bluffs.

2-event winners = Harper Boche of Southeast in the girls' shot put & discus; Pine Bluffs Mitchell Birkhofer in the shot put & discus; Carsten Freeburg of PB in the high jump & triple jump.

 

FRIDAY, MAY 3:

BOBCAT T&F INVITATIONAL at Thermopolis HS at 1 p.m. – Arapahoe Charter, Big Piney, Burlington, Dubois, Farson-Eden, Ft. Washakie, Glenrock, Greybull, Kemmerer, Little Snake River, Lovell, Meeteetse, Pinedale, Rawlins, Riverside, Shoshoni, Ten Sleep, Thermopolis, Wind River, Worland.

The Worland girls and Lovell boys finished 1st in the team standings. Worland's Cherise Douzenis won the 200 & 400 meters and the long jump; Pinedale's Katy Dexter won the discus & shot put.

BULLDOG INVITE in Sundance at 10 a.m. – Hulett, Newcastle, Sundance, Upton, Wright; out-of-state teams: Bridger (MT), Harding County (SD).

The team scores were not posted with the results. Hulett's Ahnya Ivie-Moody won the 100 & 400 meters; Newcastle's Aspen Bloom won the 1600 & 3200 meters; Adalyn Olson of Newcastle won the 200 meters & long jump. For the boys, Ethan Schiller of Upton went 4-for-4 and won the 100 & 200 meters, plus the long & triple jumps; Sam Cunningham from Newcastle won the 1600 & 3200 meters; Keaton Mills of Sundance won the discus & high jump.

CAMEL QUALIFIER at Campbell County HS in Gillette at - Buffalo, Campbell County, Douglas, Kelly Walsh, Moorcroft, Natrona County, Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Tongue River.

The Thunder Basin girls and Kelly Walsh boys' were the team winners. Teagan Becker of KW won the shot put & discus. Campbell County's Adam Gibson won the 100-meter dash & long jump.

KAYCEE MIDDLE-HIGH SCHOOL INVITE 2024 at Kaycee HS at 10 a.m. – Arvada-Clearmont, H.E.M., Kaycee, Midwest.

No results have been posted.

LYNN WILLIAMS MEMORIAL 2024 in Jackson – Green River, Jackson, Rock Springs, Star Valley; out-of-state: Teton (ID).

No team scores were posted with the results. Jackson's Rebecca Griebel won the long & triple jumps. Krew Morgan of Star Valley won the 2 boys' hurdle races; teammate Khale Clinger swept the long & triple jumps; Jackson's Conner Healey won the shot put & discus.

WISEMAN INVITE 2024 at Torrington HS at 10 a.m. – Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Encampment, Guernsey-Sunrise, Laramie, Lusk, Prairie View, Southeast, Torrington, Wheatland.

Laramie won the girls' team crown and Cheyenne Central won the boys.' Brooklyn Asmus of Torrington won the 100 & 200 meters. For the boys, Shawn Basart of Central swept the 2 hurdle races; Central won 3 of the 4 relays.

Out-of-State events:

PACS BYU HS Invitational in Provo, UT – Cokeville, Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Lyman, Mountain View, Star Valley.

The Evanston boys won the SMR at 3:40.16.

Star Valley's Valerie Jirak was 3rd in the 100 meters & 2nd in the 400 meters; Evanston placed 2nd in the girls' SMR. 

 

SATURDAY, MAY 3:

SEWAC INVITATIONAL at Glenrock HS - Burns, Lingle-Ft. Laramie, Lusk, Pine Bluffs, Southeast.

Girls: Melody ZumBrunnen of Lusk went 4-for-4 and won the 100, 200, & 400 meters and long jump; Jessica Hoffman of Pine Bluffs won the high jump & discus.

Boys: Alex Head of Pine Bluffs won the 100 & 200 meters; Sullivan Wilson of LFL won the 1600 & 3200 meters;  LFL won all 4 relays; Corey Bruegger of Lusk won the 400 meters, long jump & triple jump.

Girls HS Team Results = Lingle-Ft. Laramie 147, Burns 112.50, Southeast 105, Lusk 101, Pine Bluffs 70.50.

Boys HS Team Results = Lingle-Ft. Laramie 157, Burns 151.50, Pine Bluffs 106, Lusk 103.50, Southeast 27.

SHANE BROCK INVITATIONAL in Lander at 10 a.m. – Farson-Eden, Kemmerer, Lander, Riverton, Shoshoni.

Girls: Avery Bever of Lander won the 100 & 200 meters; Lander won 3 of the 4 relays; Paisley Hollingshead of Lander won the high jump & long jump; Adelyn Anderson of Lander won the discus & shot put.

Boys: Wyatt Trembly from Dubois won the 200 meters & swept the 2 hurdle races; RS won all 4 relays; Kael Anderson of RS won the 100 meters & long jump; Nathan Mills of Riverton won the discus & shot put.
