Cheyenne Central Grabs 1st Win of the Season in 4A Football
Before Friday's 4A football game with Cheyenne South, Cheyenne Central lost 3 games by slight margins. Two of them were by 7 points and another one was by 2 so the Indians were looking for something convincing in game 4.
Central was missing a large portion of starters due to injury but the Tribe still manhandled South 49-6. Central put 14 points on the board in the 1st quarter starting with a 1-yard touchdown run from Tyrone Richards to make it 7-0. That was followed by a touchdown pass to Lane Clement to Tyler Finnoff to increase the lead to 14.
Central went wild in the 2nd quarter with 35 points as Clement threw a 15-yard TD pass to Nathan Brenchly and Brenchly also returned a punt 62 yards for a score. Bryson Filbin had an 8-yard run for a TD, Justin Castaneda tossed a 4-yard touchdown pass to Konrad Prescott and Aiden Herget had a scoop and score from 14 yards out on the defensive end of things.
The long score for Cheyenne South was turned in by Daniel Perez on an interception return for a touchdown. Central is now 1-3 and will be in Gillette on Friday to meet Thunder Basin. South is 0-4 on the season and the Bison will be at home to play Rock Springs on Friday.
