Some football games are decided by 6 plays or less and the Cheyenne East-Natrona match-up on Friday was one of those games. Both teams had their struggles and yet at the same time, both teams made some timely plays. As it turns out, East blocked an extra point in the last 20 seconds of the game to escape with a 14-13 win.

After a scoreless first quarter, East quarterback Nolan Horton rambled 45 yards for a touchdown to give the Thunderbirds a 7-0 lead. Natrona would answer in the 3rd quarter thanks to Tyler Palmero who burst into the end zone from 4 yards out to even the contest at 7.

East regained the lead in the 4th quarter on a 2-yard TD plunge from Anthony Pacheco to bump the lead to 14-7. Natrona showed some poise as they scored in the last half minute of the game as quarterback Kanai Olson threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Cox to make it a 14-13 game.

Camden Hassler of Cheyenne East made a huge play, blocking the extra point to preserve the victory. It was a great way to win and a crushing way to lose. East improves to 4-1 on the year in 4A  and will be in Casper on Friday night to take on Kelly Walsh. Natrona is 2-3 and will host Laramie this week.
