Cheyenne East was clearly the team to beat in 4A basketball this season but Cody certainly earned another crack at the T-Birds in the State Championship game in Casper on Friday night. It was the first time in 60 years that 2 undefeated teams met in the title game in Wyoming High School Basketball and for the 2nd straight year, East prevailed over Cody 51-41.

Both teams struggled on offense in the first half with East starting to pull away in the 2nd half thanks to a series of 3 pointers from Boden Liljedahl. She had 17 points in the game and Gatorade Player of the Year Jordan Jones added 16. Those two combined to so 11-12 from the free-throw line.

East really could never slam the door on Cody in this contest. The Broncs showed a lot of fortitude in the 2nd half and were led by Molly Hays with 13 and Reece Niemann had 12. But going 1-13 in the first half from the floor really haunted Cody on Saturday. The Broncs were 24-1 and East ran the table at 28-0.

We have some video to share with you from that 4A title game from the Ford Center in Casper as well as a collection of photos. Enjoy!
