Cokeville put on quite a display in their 2A football semi-final playoff game, going on the road and defeating Mountain View 40-14 to advance to the 2A championship in Laramie. The Panthers scored in every quarter thanks to a punishing run game and a stout defense. Mountain View was playing without their star quarterback Justus Platts who suffered a knee injury in their playoff game with Wheatland. Platts was enjoying maybe the finest season of any high school football player in the state.

Cokeville took an 8-0 lead in the opening quarter on a 2-yard run for a score from Justin Moyes and the successful 2-point try. Moyes came through with a 37-yard run for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter and the Panthers converted the 2-point attempt to lead 16-0. Mountain View responded with a 2-yard plunge to the end zone from Brendon Walker and he caught a short pass for the 2-point conversion to cut the lead to 16-8.

Cokeville got serious on defense in the 2nd half as Mountain View just couldn't find any traction. The Panthers recorded a safety in the 3rd quarter and Kayson Walker compounded matters for the Buffs as he zoomed to the end zone from 67 yards out. After 3 quarters of play, Cokeville led 26-8.

Kayson Walker continued his terrific game with 2 more TD runs in the 4th quarter of 2 and 10 yards. Mountain View found the end zone once in the final quarter as Isaac Linford caught a 29-yard touchdown pass from Brendon Walker.

Cokeville at 7-3 will play for a state championship for the first time since 2019 when they were a member of the 1A 11-man ranks. Mountain View wraps up the season at 9-2.
