The State 1A girls basketball tournament tipped off on Thursday with defending champion St. Stephens beating Rock River 69-56 at the Casper Events Center.

St. Stephens outscored Rock River in the 3rd quarter to pull away for good and were paced by Trinity Googles with 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Lyndsay Harris had 18 with Angel Redman throwing a dozen.

Freshman Lydia Moore led Rock River with 24 with Andi Todd contributing 23.

The Longhorns are 19-4 and will play in the consolation round tomorrow at Casper College.

The Eagles advance to the semi-finals on Friday at Kelly Walsh.
