The Douglas girls basketball team repeated as the 3A state champions going 26-1. The Bearcats were the #1 ranked team in 3A in both offense and defense with 2 all-state players on their roster, Allyson Fertig and Haedyn Rhoades. Fertig, by the way, was a double-performer averaging 14 points and 10 rebounds per game. The Cats state tournament march started with a 66-27 win over Lander as Fertig was phenomenal with 25 points and 10 rebounds on 11-13 from the field. Rhoades chipped in 12 with Joslin Igo adding 11. In the 3A semi-finals, Douglas dismantled a good Buffalo team 62-39 as Fertig dropped in 25 again with an incredible 22 rebounds. The 3A championship pitted the Cats against Lyman and once again it was Douglas coming up with a convincing win, 56-41. Fertig had 14, Kamdynn Townsend also had 14 with Rhoades throwing in 11. The good news for Douglas is that Fertig, Townsend, and Igo will be juniors next year so the Cats should be tough again.
