Former WyoPreps Bradshaw and Fertig Receive Weekly College Basketball Awards
A pair of former WyoPreps earned honors as the Mountain West Conference Basketball Players of the Week on Monday.
Former Lyman and Douglas High School standouts McKinley Bradshaw and Allyson Fertig were named the league’s ‘Player of the Week’ and ‘Freshman of the Week,’ respectively.
The former Wyoming high school stars helped the Wyoming Cowgirls go 2-1 last week.
Bradshaw averaged 16.7 points, 5.3 rebounds, and two steals per game. She shot 52.6 percent from the field and made three triples last week. Bradshaw became the first Cowgirl to receive Player of the Week honors in the Mountain West since Tereza Vitulova in December 2019.
Fertig had a breakout week with new career-highs in scoring in each of the three contests. She had 14 points and 10 rebounds against Chadron State. Fertig followed that with 15 points and six rebounds against Tulane. Finally, versus Denver, she scored 16 points and had six rebounds.
Fertig was named to the all-tournament team at the Denver Pioneer Thanksgiving Classic last Friday and Saturday. For the week, she averaged 15 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
Bradshaw and Fertig are two of three “Wyomingites” on the UW women’s basketball roster. They’re joined by Tommi Olson, who hails from Worland.
The Wyoming Cowgirls are 3-3 on the 2021-22 season.
