A fifth-inning rally propelled the Jackson Giants to a 2-1 victory over the Sheridan Troopers Sunday at the Wyoming Legion Baseball ‘AA’ State Tournament in Gillette.

Jackson advanced to Day 4 of the State Tournament for a second straight year. Here are some of the game’s highlights:

Seth Christiansen allowed one run on six hits over six innings. He walked four and struck out three. Anthony Bleggi worked a scoreless seventh and got the save.

Sheridan had the bases load in the first inning but failed to score. The Troopers scored in the second on an error by Christiansen but were shut down after that.

Jackson didn’t get much going until the fifth inning. The Giants strung together four hits, a sacrifice bunt, and a ground out for their two runs. An RBI-single by Nate Fairbanks tied the game. Two batters later Quentin Bruno’s RBI-ground out to the second baseman made it 2-1.

Sheridan’s Race Johnston singled to lead-off the seventh, but a fielder’s choice and a double play ended the game.

Fairbanks and Giants’ manager Jason Huggins spoke with WyoPreps’ David Settle after the game about their victory.

Jackson had 10 hits led by two each from Fairbanks, Matt Ellingson, and Parker Bleggi.

Johnston had two of the Troopers six hits. Ayden Roush tossed a complete game but suffered the loss on the mound.

Jackson will take on Gillette at 4 p.m. Monday in another elimination game at the ‘AA’ State Tournament.
