The annual Wayne Chaney Cross Country Meet was held on Thursday at the Cam-Plex park in Gillette with just a few schools competing. It was a great course through the park and very spectator-friendly.

On the boy's side, the winner was Patrick Hardesty of Thunder Basin with a time of 16.23.8. He placed 16th at the 2023 4A State Cross Country Meet in Cheyenne. Kelly Walsh's Micah Colling placed 2nd in 16.47.8 with his teammate Garrett Peterson taking 3rd in 17.12.6. Everett Roberson of KW was 4th and Ethan Nichols of Thunder Basin 5th. The Bolts placed 1st in the team standings with Kelly Walsh 2nd and Campbell County 3rd.

For the ladies, Lillie Kirkham of Cody was the individual medalist in 19.38.4 and she placed 4th as a freshman at the 3A State Meet in 2023. Lexi Longhurst of Kelly Walsh took 2nd in 19.52.5 and Reina Wachob from Cody was 3rd with a time of 20.27.8. The 4th place finisher was Carlee Roth of Thunder Basin with Greysen Cawiezell of KW 5th.  Cody was 1st in the team standings followed by Kelly Walsh and Thunder Basin.
