Coming off a runner-up finish last year, the Gillette Roughriders Legion baseball team continues its tradition of competing at a high level.

The Riders lost ten seniors off last year’s team and are going through a bit of a rebuild. There are four returners from the 2019 team who played a regular role a year ago. That includes the reigning ‘AA’ Pitcher of the Year, Kaden Race. The others are Jason Fink, Matt Newlin, and Brody Richardson

In the video above, Race spoke to WyoPreps about entering this season with the moniker of ‘pitcher of the year.’ He also spoke about how Gillette is playing now versus trying to peak at state tournament time, what he’s been working on with his play, plus his future at Yakima Community College, and more.

As of July 4, the Riders are 37-25 on the season with a big road trip to a tournament in Minnesota this weekend. Gillette also has a tournament in Jamestown, ND, plus a few other games on their schedule left in the regular season. That includes conference home games against Cheyenne and Laramie.

The 'AA' Wyoming American Legion Baseball State Tournament is July 26-30 in Laramie. Gillette will be looking to contend for the title once again.

Wyoming Restaurants Featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives

It's hard not to take this a little personally. Guy Fieri of the Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives has visited the Cowboy State a few times. Yet each time he stays close to Jackson. The show takes us on a culinary voyage across the U.S, but he's never stopped in Cheyenne, Casper, or even Chugwater.
