The preliminary day of the Class 3A Wyoming High School Girls’ Swimming and Diving State Championships has been completed in Laramie.

Green River had the top time in four events on Friday night. They will be the top seed in the finals in the 200 medley relay after a 1:49.33 in the prelims. Senior Lauren Jensen was the top qualifier for the finals in the 50 free with a time of 24.80 seconds and also in the 100 backstroke in 58.10 seconds. Her teammate, junior Hailey Uhrig had the best time in the 100 breaststroke race in 1:05.59.

Cody sophomore star Tara Joyce, who has broken two state records this year, has the top time in the 200 free (1:57.59) and the 500 free (5:25.27). As a team, Cody qualified first in 3:45.17 in the 400 free relay race.

Another leader in two events is Buffalo junior Makenna Lambert. She swam 2:12.93 in the 200 individual medley event. Lambert also put up a time of 53.39 seconds in the 100 free. Buffalo qualified No. 1 in the 200 free relay in 1:42.09

Lyman’s Brynlee Busskohl has the fastest time of 1:00.50 in the 100 butterfly event.

Finally, in diving, Bella Romasko from Sublette County leads a close competition. She scored 250.10 points in the diving prelims and semifinals. The top four are separate by less than eight points.

The finals for the Class 3A Girls State Swim Meet are at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
