Kyle Thurin who competed for the Pine-Bluffs/Burns wrestling team will continue his career on the mat at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado. At the 2020 state tournament, Thurin wrestled at 182 pounds in 3A and lost in the quarterfinal round but finished the season at 25-13.

His best finish at state was in 2019, also at 182 pounds when he took 3rd in that weight class in 3A. Thurin did lose in the semi-finals but came back for the bronze medal. He wrapped up that season at 38-16. In his sophomore year, wrestling at 170, he went 1-2 in the 2A state tournament and posted 34 wins and 16 losses for the season.

Thurin was an all-state linebacker in football in the 1A ranks for Pine Bluffs in 2019 with astounding 133 tackles with 62 solo. He registered 2 sacks and an interception in his senior season and had 78 tackles, 32 of them unassisted in his junior year.
