Lane Ewing from Douglas has proven over and over again to be one of the finest wrestlers in Wyoming. He was named the Casey Ulrich Outstanding Wrestler at the big Shane Shatto Tournament in Douglas by winning the 160-pound weight class. Ewing is a 3-time state champion and beat a defending state champ in Dane Steel of Sheridan for that 160-pound crown over the weekend.

So far this season, Ewing is 23-0 and went undefeated last season, and won the 3A 160-pound state championship with 3 pins in 4 matches. As a sophomore in 2021, Ewing took the state title at 145 pounds with a record of 33-6 and won his first 3A state championship as a freshman in 2020 at 132 pounds with a record of 32-6.

Ewing is a technically sound wrestler and he is looking to join some elite company as a 4-time state champion. We had a chance to talk with him after his 1st round match at the Shane Shatto. It was another day at the office.
