Newcastle senior MacKenzie Conzelman will continue her basketball career in college after recently committing to Dickinson State University.

Conzelman was joined by her family, Newcastle head coach Chad Ostenson, and DSU head coach Eric Nelson at her NLI signing.

MacKenzie was a two-time all-conference selection for the Dogies. She helped Newcastle to a record of 19-6 and a third-place finish at the 3A state basketball tournament in March. The Dogies tied for first place at 5-1 in the 3A Northeast Quadrant.

Conzelman averaged seven points and four rebounds per game during her senior season. She shot 30 percent from the field and 28 percent from 3-point range. Conzelman scored 19 points and made five triples against Harding County, SD. She also had ten rebounds against Lyman in the third-place game at the state tournament and five steals against Wright.

As a junior, Conzelman averaged 11.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. She shot 47 percent from the floor and 48 percent from deep in the 2021-22 season. That helped Newcastle to a 23-3 record, the 3A Northeast Quadrant regular season title, and a consolation championship at the 3A state basketball tournament.

In the 2020-21 season, Conzelman averaged 3.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per game as a sophomore. She averaged 2.2 points and one rebound per game as a freshman.

A multi-sport athlete, Conzelman also played volleyball and soccer at NHS.

The Dickinson State Blue Hawks are at the NAIA level of intercollegiate athletics. They are a member of the North Star Athletic Association (NSAA). Dickinson State University is in Dickinson, ND.
