In track and field, pole vaulting is not for everybody on the athletic side but it sure fun to watch. Vaulters need power, speed, and the right mental approach to succeed. Maddix Blazovich of Rock Springs seems to have this all figured out and will taking his skills to Idaho State University in the fall.

Just last week, Blazovich won the pole vault event at the Casper Early Bird Meet, clearing 15-0. He also took 5th in the 100-meter dash in 11.57 and 5th in the 2oo with a time of 23.63. Earlier this month, Blazovich won the 4A State Indoor Championship in Gillette, going 16 feet even. The state indoor record is 16-5 so that was a great effort, right on cue. He took 2nd at the 2022 Indoor Championships at 14-3.

Blazovich is also the defending 4A Outdoor State Champion as he cleared the bar at 15-6. He's improved by 3 feet from his sophomore Outdoor State Meet when he finished 7th at 12-6.

Idaho State is a Division I school located in Pocatello and competes in the Big Sky Conference.
