It has been announced that the Midwest Oilers have canceled the rest of their 2019 high school football season.

Midwest Athletic Director Mike Brainard said in an email to WyoPreps.com that they will be forfeiting what's left of both their high school and junior high football seasons due to low numbers.

Brainard explained the situation.

"Safety is the main priority for our student-athletes at Midwest, and with low numbers, it has been determined by coaches and administration that the remainder of the season will need to be canceled. We value and appreciate the time, effort, and resources given by parents, athletes, transportation, officials and the Midwest community."

Midwest competes in the Class 1A 6-man division as part of the East Conference. The Oilers were 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the conference through the first five weeks. Midwest was scheduled to host Guernsey-Sunrise this Friday, before another home game against Hulett on Oct. 18. Their final game was set for Oct. 25 at Saratoga. Those schools will receive forfeit wins.
