1st Go-Round in the Books at National HS Finals Rodeo

The National High School Finals Rodeo is moving on to the 2nd go-round in Rock Springs and the Wyoming girls team had a solid 1st go and sits in 2nd place behind Texas.

Hadley Thompson of Yoder is currently 3rd in the girls all-around as she took 3rd in the 1st go of the goat tying in 7.09. She was 7th in the 1st go of the breakaway in 2.37 with Rhame Hicks of Gillette taking 6th in 2.36. Sheridan's Abagail Olson jumped to 3rd in the barrel racing with a run of 17.215. Kloe Nichols of Boulder was 9th in the 1st go. Caitlin Moore of Wright placed 5th in the first go-round of the pole-bending in 20.111 with Gillette's Abby Milburg 15th. Karly Peterson of Buffalo was 23rd in the girls cutting and Sydnee Roady of Worland was 38th in the reined cow horse event.

In the girl's 2nd go-round, Caitlin Moore had the best time in Wednesday night performance in the pole bending in 20.174. Abagail Olson turned in a run of 17.233 in the barrels to sit in 2nd place, Hadley Thompson had a of 3.6 in the breakaway and is 6th, Rickie Jo Rourke of Gillette 9th in the goat tying with a time of 8.19, and Teanna Jolovich of Gillette 15th in the cutting with a score of 130.

The Wyoming boys team is 14th at the moment and Conner Wease from Farson took 2nd in the first go of the steer wrestling with a time of 4.51. Green River's Jacob Cook finished 12th in the first go with a 68 and Chaz Dewey of Carlile was 42nd with a score of 57.with Wind River's Aidan Ruby jumping to 16th place in the bull riding with a 73. Cheyenne's Brenson Bartlett took 20th in the round of the bulls with a 71.5.

Talon Larson of Gillette was 60th in the tie-down roping with a time of 13.6 and he paired with Sidwell Peterson of Torrington to take 55th in the first go of the team roping. Austin Pixley of Sundance is 12th in the 2nd go of the tie down roping in 19.54.

The 2nd go-round of the NHSFR will last through Saturday morning with the championship short go on Saturday night at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs.
