
National High School Finals Rodeo Concludes in Rock Springs
The National High School Finals Rodeo came to a close on Saturday night in Rock Springs and the Wyoming girl's team had a great week as they finished 4th in the team standings.
Yoder's Hadley Thompson finished 2nd in the breakaway roping with a time of 8.25 and took first in the short-go on Saturday night. She also took 2nd in the goat tying at 22.05 with a 2nd place finish in the short round. Thompson finished in 2nd place in the girls' all-around with 1125 points. Sheridan's Abagail Olson took 2nd in the barrel racing average in 51.672 thanks to a 3rd place finish in the short go and 73rd in the pole bending so she took 5th in the all-around.
Also on the girl's side, Gillettes Abby Milburg was 17th in the pole bending, Karly Peterson from Buffalo took 19th in the cutting and Sydnee Roady of Worland was 31st in the reined cow horse event.
The Wyoming boys team had a strong finish in the NHSFR and placed 14th. Brenson Bartlett of Cheyenne was 7th in the bull riding with 147 and turned in 75.5 on Saturday morning; that was the performance's best effort. Buffalo's Colson Myers placed 7th in the steer wrestling at 19.42. Keyton Hayden from Gillette was 16th in the boys cutting with Jacob Cook of Green River placing 21st in the bareback with 133.
In the saddle bronc, Pace Garrett out of Gillette was 25th with 177, Talon Larson of Gillette took 66th in the tie-down roping with Larson pairing up with Torrington's Sidwell Peterson in the team toping to take 70th. Case and Ryder Kerr from Afton took 6th in the team roping and they competed for Idaho. Cooper Justus of Parkman was 27th in the reined cowhorse event.
The combined Wyoming boys and girls team took 6th place and that's a fantastic effort considering there were close to 1500 contestants at the High School Finals.
