National High School Finals Rodeo Headed To 2nd Go-Round

The National High School Finals rodeo will continue on Wednesday in Gillette with the morning session marking the end of the first go-round and the evening session will be the beginning of the 2nd go-round.

In the Tuesday morning session for Team Wyoming, Bohdi Coombs from Wellington had a 4.77 in the steer wrestling which was the best time of the session. Jace Mayfield from Midwest had a 10.17 in the tie-down roping which was the 2nd-best effort of the morning, Cody Hayden of Gillette was 12th in boys cutting. In the reined cow horse event, Baliegh Lane from Huntley was 9th in the morning session with 279 and Cooper Justus from Parkman was 16th with 272.6.

For the ladies on Tuesday morning, Tessa Sanderson was 5th in pole bending at 20.797.

In the Tuesday evening performance, Jake Schlattmann of Greybull posted a 64 in the saddle bronc for 5th in the session. Team ropers Austin Pixley of Sundance and Keyton Hayden of Gillette with an 8.38 and that was 5th in the session. On the girl's side, Shayda Lesmeister of Rozet with a time of 20.687 in the pole bending, and Yoder's Hadley Thompson with an 8.64 in the goat tying which was 9th.

Currently, in the average, Wright's Caitlin Moore is leading the pole-bending, with Abagail Olson of Sheridan 4th. Olson is also 6th in the average of the barrel racing. Raelee Caldwell of Gillette is 47th in the breakaway roping and Hadley Thompson from Yoder is 40th in the goat tying. Sydnee Roady of Worland is 35th in the reined cow horse event and Huntley's Baliegh Lane is 26th in the girls cutting.

On the boy's side in the aggregate, Roedy Farrell from Thermopolis is 15th in the bareback, Greybulls, Jake Schlattmann is 13th in the saddle bronc and Gillette's Hayden Welch is 4th in the bull riding. Kash Reynolds of Rozet and Talon Larson of Gillette stand in 11th place in the team roping, Jace Mayfield of Midwest is 5th in the tie-down roping, Bohdi Coombs of Wellington is 5th in the steer wrestling, and Ean McGuire of Wheatland is 19th in boys cutting.

The rodeo concludes on Saturday at the Camplex in Campbell County
