
National HS Finals Rodeo Moving Along in Rock Springs
The National High School Finals Rodeo kicked off over the weekend in Rock Springs with over 1500 contestants from 47 states and provinces. The Wyoming girls team is currently in 2nd place behind Texas with 930 points so they're off to a good start in the first go-round.
After Monday's performances, Hadley Thompson of Yoder is in 2nd place in the goat tying with a time of 7.09. Kloe Nichols from Boulder is 2nd in barrel racing at 17.478. Rhame Hicks out of Gillette is running 3rd in the breakaway roping with a clocking of 2.36. Abby Milburg, another Gillette cowgirl is 5th in the pole bending at 20.557. Worland's Sydnee Roady is 19th in the reined cow horse event, scoring 284.5.
On the boys' side, Jacob Cook of Green River is 7th in the bareback with a 68, and Cheyenne bull rider Brenson Bartlett had a 71in the first go-round so he is in 10th place at the moment. Rozet's Trenton Sheehan had a time of 6.83 in the steer wrestling so he is in 9th place while Keyton Hayden of Gillette is 13th in the boys cutting with 142.5 points. Talon Larson of Gillette along with Sidwell Peterson of Torrington are 26th in the team roping with a time of 13.93. The Wyoming Boys team is in 14th place with 445 points and the NHSFR will continue all week with two performances per day at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs
