New WyoPreps Coaches and Media Softball Rankings Have a Top Four
There is a tie at the bottom of the new WyoPreps.com Coaches and Media Softball Poll released on Wednesday.
After a week out of the rankings, Cheyenne East is back in the top five and tied for fourth. The four other teams didn’t change this week.
Kelly Walsh remains No. 1 after their split at home versus fourth-ranked Cody last week. The Trojans won the conference game, but the Fillies rallied in game two of the twin-bill. Kelly Walsh received 12 of the 14 first-place votes in the new poll. The other teams that garnered a first-place vote were Campbell County and East.
Thunder Basin holds in the second position. The Bolts went 3-1 on a road swing to Cheyenne last weekend. Their crosstown rival, Campbell County, remains third in the rankings. The Camels received at least one vote in all five spots in the balloting. They went 2-2 on that same road trip to the Capital City.
Cody and Cheyenne East are tied for fourth in this week’s poll. That is the one change. The Fillies have just one loss on the season. After the split at KW, Cody won both at Natrona County.
Cheyenne East went 4-1 last weekend. They beat Laramie, split with Thunder Basin, and swept Campbell County. The T-Birds replace crosstown rival Cheyenne Central in the top five.
The biggest game on the schedule this week is a rematch, as the Fillies will host the Trojans in Cody on Friday. There are no other games pairing ranked teams going head-to-head.
