A pair of Newcastle High School girls’ soccer players are taking their talent to the next level after recently signing their letter of intent.

Newcastle seniors Claire Beastrom and Alaina Laurence have signed with Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, IA.

Beastrom was an all-conference performer as a midfielder-forward for the Dogies in the 2019 season. She lost her junior year to the COVID cancellation. Beastrom is a multi-sport student-athlete who has lettered for three years in volleyball and four years in basketball.

Laurence has played multiple positions at Newcastle High School. She received all-conference honors as a sophomore in 2019 and was honorable mention all-conference as a freshman in the 2018 season. Laurence also is a four-year letter winner in cross country and plays indoor soccer.

The Southeastern Community College Blackhawks compete at the NJCAA Division I level. They compete in the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), which is part of Region XI in the NJCAA.
