PhotoFest: 2024 Wyoming Shrine Bowl
The 51st annual Shrine Bowl All-Star game was held at Natrona County High School in Casper on Saturday and it took a while to complete thanks to a weather delay for over an hour.
The North jumped on the board first as the South snapped a ball through the end zone for a safety to make it 2-0. The North took a 9-0 lead in the first quarter on a touchdown connection from Sheridan's Dom Berrettini to his teammate Dane Steel who covered 27 yards with a nifty run after the catch. The South did answer with a 1st half TD as Cam Hayes of Cheyenne East ran it in from 9 yards out to cut the gap to 9-7. The North ended that first half on a high note as Berrettini scored from the doorstep and it was 15-7 at the half-time intermission.
The North extended their lead in the 3rd quarter as Riverton's Darrick DeVries lobbed one to a wide-open Steel in the end zone to make it 22-7. Steel by the way had 133 yards worth of receptions on 10 catches. Berrettini added another TD which was followed by a pick-six from Lovell's Jared Mangus that went for 57 yards. Powell's Trey Stenerson concluded the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown reception and the North won going away 45-7.
Berettini was named the Shrine Bowl Offensive MVP throwing for 102 yards and running for 88. Colby Olson from Cheyenne East was the Offensive MVP with 5 sacks and 3 of those were in the first half.
