1A 9-man football has been especially strong in the southeast part of the state and Pine Bluffs flexed their muscles yet again with a 53-6 road win over Lingle-Fort Laramie on Friday night. Pine Bluffs opened the scoring with an 11-yard touchdown connection from Stu Lerwick to Ryan Fornstrom to make it 7-0 Hornets. Lingle-Fort Laramie had an answer to that as Brian McCoid hooked up with Louden Bremen for 29 yards and a TD so the Doggers were down 1 at 7-6.

After that, Pine Bluffs took over with Abe Serrano getting into the end zone from 2 yards out to bump the lead to 14-6. Dalton Schaefer was back on the field for the Hornets after missing a significant amount of time due to an injury suffered in the first game of the season. He had a 35-yard run for a score to increase the Pine Bluffs advantage to 20-6. Lerwick then found Collin Jessen for 20 yards and another touchdown so the Hornets assumed a 26-6 lead at the halftime intermission.

Pine Bluffs put 2 more scores on the board in the 3rd quarter as Lerwick had a 15-yard scamper and Serrano scored again from the 2. In the 4th quarter, Taylor Beeken and James Langlois found the end zone as the Hornets win this one going away.

Pine Bluffs has a big game to conclude the regular season hosting 6-1 Southeast. The winner will grab a #1 seed from the 9-man East and the loser will be the 2nd seed. Lingle is 5-2 on the year and will host Saratoga this week. The Doggers will earn the #3 seed with a win and they could fall to #4 depending on the outcome of the Lusk-Wright game. There are also some tie-breaking scenarios as well.

Be sure and check out some great images from Dirt Road Wife Photography as well as Ashley Jesson from that game in Lingle last week. Enjoy!
