Powell is one of the contenders in 3A football and has rebounded from a week-zero loss to Riverton with back-to-back wins. The Panthers jumped to the lead over Lander in the first quarter on Friday and never looked back en route to a 39-8 win.

Powell went to work on offense right away as quarterback Keona Wisniewski tossed a 23-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Loera and with the successful 2-point try, the Panthers assumed an 8-0 lead. Later in the first quarter, Wisniewski threw another TD pass, this time to Dawson Griffin who covered 15 yards to increase the lead to 15-0.

Wisniewski was on fire in this contest as he threw his 3rd touchdown pass of the first half, going to Loera again on a play that went for 20 yards. Lander answered that score with one of their own as Caleb Larvie found the end zone from 3 yards out but the Tigers trailed at the intermission 22-8.

Wisniewski went back to work in the 3rd quarter with TD pass #4 and Loera caught his 3rd touchdown ball of the game. This one went to 20 yards again and it was 29-8. Wisniewski completed his terrific game with another scoring strike, this time to Alex Jordan in the 4th quarter that went for 40 yards. Ivy Agee finished the Powell scoring with a field goal in the 4th quarter so the Panthers will have some momentum going into this week's road game in Douglas

Lander is 1-1 on the year after starting the season with a victory over Green River. The Tigers will be at home this week to take on Evanston.
