WyoPreps New Football Rankings on Sept. 2, 2026

In the second rankings of the season, WyoPreps opened voting to only the top three divisions, since several 6-man and 9-man teams did not play last week. The result was three unanimous selections for No. 1 and shuffling in the top three classifications. The new WyoPreps Coaches and Media Football Poll saw Big Horn in 2A, Star Valley in 3A, and Sheridan in 4A receive every vote for the top spot.

SECOND WYOPREPS COACHES AND MEDIA FOOTBALL POLLS OF 2026

The first changes were in 2A. Torrington was alone in third after their season-opening road win in Nebraska. Thermopolis’ dominant victory against Worland helped the Bobcats move up to fourth. Lovell fell to fifth. Class 3A had the only new team to enter the poll. Douglas did not play last week, but the Bearcats moved into fifth. Finally, in 4A, Central and Natrona County climbed up one spot in the rankings after impressive wins. Campbell County dropped to fifth.

Here are the class breakdowns. The 6-man and 9-man polls were from the preseason rankings.

Class 1A 6-man:

1 = Burlington

2 = Little Snake River

3 = Encampment

4 = Hulett

5 = Riverside

Class 1A 9-man:

1 = Pine Bluffs

2 = Greybull

3 = Rocky Mountain

4 = Big Piney

5 = Saratoga

Class 3A:

2 = Cody

Coaches and media across the state were provided an opportunity to vote in the new rankings for the top three divisions. Full poll voting resumes next week.
