WyoPreps Looks at Mountain View Football in 2026 [VIDEO]

Coming off a state championship and undefeated season, the Mountain View Buffalos would love to run it back in 2026. Despite graduating six all-state players, including the Class 2A Offensive Player of the Year, Mountain View will be in the mix this fall. The Buffalos were the sixth stop in the WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour last Thursday.

WYOPREPS PREVIEWS THE 2026 MOUNTAIN VIEW BUFFALOS

Mountain View is looking for playmakers. They have to replace nearly 90 percent of their scoring and total offense from the 2025 season. Oh, and head coach Brent Walk stepped down in the offseason after 14 years at the helm. He won four state titles and only missed the playoffs once.

Despite those losses, you can expect Mountain View to be in the mix in Class 2A. In the past decade, the Buffalos have had only one losing record, and only one other time have they had fewer than seven wins. Enter Dustin Rees. He has experience as an assistant coach on the gridiron and was most recently Mountain View's boys' basketball head coach. He trades the hard court for the stadium grass. The cupboard is not bare. The Buffalos return five starters on both sides of the ball. They bring back four all-state players from the 2025 championship squad. Mountain View's strength will be its experience on the offensive and defensive lines. WyoPreps attended practice to find out more about this year's Buffalos' squad. We visited with two all-state returners, cousins Brendon Walker and Kannen Walker, plus head coach Dustin Rees. We got some insight into how Mountain View looks in 2026.

The Buffalos have a Week 0 scrimmage against 3A Green River. They officially open the season on September 4 versus Rich County, Utah. WyoPreps has a few photos from last Thursday's early practice session below. Enjoy!
