WyoPreps Provides a Look at Kemmerer Football in 2026 [VIDEO]

The Kemmerer Rangers are looking for a fresh start in the 2026 high school football season. The Rangers struggled to a 1-7 mark last year and missed the 2A playoffs for the seventh straight year. Enter Sid Chaulk, the new head coach hired in the offseason and tasked with trying to rebuild the Kemmerer program. The Rangers were our fourth stop of the WyoPreps Preseason Football Tour.

WYOPREPS PREVIEWS THE 2026 KEMMERER RANGERS

Kemmerer has endured some tough times. They haven't been to the playoffs since 2018. Their last winning record was 17 years ago in 2009. That was on the heels of back-to-back 3A championships in 2007 and 2008. The way back will not be easy in a pretty stacked 2A West. They see the defending champs in Mountain View, plus the likes of Cokeville and Lovell, who typically contend. Then there's Thermopolis, who has climbed their way back into the 2A mix.

Chaulk comes from Rock Springs, where he learned under Mark Lenhardt, Levi Stephens, and Kasey Koepplin. The Rangers have eight returning starters from 2025. That's led by the likes of Noah Parks, Sam Thatcher, and Abram Hartmann. WyoPreps visited with Parks, Hartmann, and Heston McMillan to get the players' perspective on the upcoming season. We also chatted with Coach Chaulk about his transition into being a first-year head coach and all that goes with his learning curve.

The Rangers will scrimmage during zero week. They officially start their 2026 season on September 4 at Moorcroft. We have some pictures from a recent practice at Kemmerer below.
