In a pivotal 3A football game on Friday, Riverton went on the road to face Buffalo and the Wolverines were trying to rebound from a disappointing effort the week prior against Douglas. Buffalo was coming off a nice win over Rawlins last week but was bombarded by Cody the game before that.

Buffalo started the scoring in the 1st quarter as quarterback Adam McCorkle waltzed into the end zone for the touchdown to give the Bison a 6-0 lead. Buffalo found the end zone again as McCorkle lobbed a touchdown pass to Jeron Sutton who made a pretty good grab to bump the Bison lead to 12-0

Riverton got back into the game in the 3rd quarter as running back Hunter Saltsgaver bulled his way into the end zone from 2 yards out to cut the gap to 12-7. Buffalo added a field goal to get it to 15-7 but Riverton answered the bell with another TD from Saltsgaver from the doorstep to make it 15-13.

Riverton made some huge plays in the last minute of the game. The biggest one was a blocked punt that gave the Wolverines the ball at the Buffalo 19. Riverton killed some clock and Saltsgaver kicked the game-winning field goal with a second remaining on the clock. The final: Riverton 16 and Buffalo 15.

The Wolverines are 4-2 on the year and will host the rival Lander on Friday. Buffalo is 3-2 on the season and be on the road at Torrington this week. We have some photos of that game Riverton-Buffalo game in our gallery below, so take a look!
