As the 3A East regular season in football comes to a close this week, it's going down to the wire in terms of seeding on this side of the state. Riverton put themselves in a position for a #1 seed with a 28-12 road win over Torrington on Friday night. The Wolverines are 6-2 overall and Torrington is 5-3. Douglas is also in the mix for that #1 seed from the East.

In Friday's game at Wiseman Field, Riverton grabbed the early lead on a 15-yard run for a touchdown from quarterback Blake Gantenbein to make it 7-0. Torrington evened things up thanks to a 2-yard plunge for a score from Colby Sandusky so it was a new game at 7-all

Riverton went in front again in the 3rd quarter as Gantenbein threw a 22-yard TD pass to Jackson Larson to bump the lead to 14-7. The Wolverines tacked on another score on a 2-yard run from Gantenbein to take a 21-7 advantage.

Gantenbein added a 1-yard TD run in the 4th quarter and Torrington answered with a 9-yard run to the end zone from Drew Krame. But that was as close as the Blazers would get. Torrington will be at Douglas in a huge game with playoff implications while Riverton travels to Rawlins.

Here is the playoff scenario for Riverton: 1-2-3 tiebreaker with a win and Torrington win over Douglas; No. 2 seed with a Douglas victory; No. 3 seed with a loss and a Torrington victory.

The situation for Torrington is as follows: No. 1 seed with a win and a Rawlins win over Riverton; 1-2-3 tiebreaker with a win and a Riverton win over Rawlins; No. 3 seed with a loss.

Tiebreaker points now = Douglas is +7, Riverton +5, and Torrington is -12. Scenarios:

Torrington wins by 1 or 2 points = Douglas No. 1, Riverton No. 2, & Torrington No. 3.

Torrington wins by 3 or more points = Riverton No. 1, Torrington No. 2, Douglas No. 3.
