Riverton’s Parker Paxton Signs with Colorado for Golf
Parker Paxton of Riverton has enjoyed a superlative prep career in golf with four state championships at the 3A level. He officially signed with the University of Colorado in Boulder and committed to the school over a year ago.
His winning ways on the course started when he was a freshman back in 2020 as he took the 3A state title by 3 strokes with rounds of 70 and 68. In his sophomore season, Paxton found the winner's circle again at the state tournament carding rounds of 66 and 64 to the championship by 11 strokes. In 2022, Paxton made a 3-peat in 3A golf winning the state title by a whopping 15 strokes as he shot 65 and 72. He made it 4 for 4 in his senior season with a 2-stroke win for the state title, recording rounds of 68 and 65. Riverton by the way has won the 3A team state crown for the last 3 years. Paxton is one of just 3 golfers in Wyoming prep history to win four state championships. The other two are Easton Paxton of Riverton from 2013-2016 and Hardy Johnson of Thermopolis from 2018-2021.
In addition to all his success in golf, Paxton was named the Gatorade Boys Basketball Player of the Year in the 2022-23 season. From the guard spot, he averaged 18 points a game, shooting 42% from the floor and 40% from the 3-point line.
