Rock Springs record-setting quarterback Brock Bider has chosen to further his football career after recently signing with Colorado Mesa University.

Bider was an all-state and two-time all-conference selection on the gridiron. He was chosen as the 2021 Class 4A West Conference Offensive Player of the Year. Bider led the Tigers to a 10-2 record last fall and helped them to a runner-up finish.

Bider released a statement on his signing with the Mavericks.

“I had the best teammates you could ask for, many of us played from our youth league days until senior year. One key to our success was sticking together and working our tails off. Through Covid year into our Senior year, we had an absolute mission and passion to be in the State Championship game.”

Bider went on to say, “I would like to thank Coach Mark Lenhardt for believing in me and giving me an opportunity to be the RSQB #1. Coach Lenhardt spent countless hours with me and putting me in a place where I could be successful. Coach is demanding and has high expectations but I believe that’s what allowed me to excel in my position. Coach Lenhardt is like no other Coach I’ve had, he takes the time to build relationships with the players on and off the field and brings an atmosphere of success and high expectations. (I’d say the Pied Piper of Football and Coaching) Every athlete that works with Coach knows he’s got your back and we’d do anything for that guy. I cannot say thank you enough to Coach and his wife Kim, thank you for picking RSHS Football.”

Bider set six school records as a junior in 2020 and then followed that up with 10 school records in 2021. That includes the most pass completions in a game (27), season (127), and career (244) at Rock Springs High School. He threw for a record 1,769 yards last fall and 3,440 yards in his career, which is another school record. Bider also holds the marks for TD passes in a game (4), season (21), and career (33). His completion percentage of 68.2 percent in a season is a record, as is the 2,115 yards of total offense in a season.

Bider is a three-year letterman in football. He's been selected for the 2022 Shrine Bowl next month in Casper. Bider also earned three letters in basketball and two in track and field. He received all-conference and honorable mention all-state honors in basketball as a senior in the 2021-22 season.

Off the field, Bider is a member of the National Honor Society at RSHS, a member of Tigers for Literacy, a member of FCA, and a member of the Fire, Law, and Leadership Academy.

The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks are a Division II school in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. In the 2021 season, they went 8-2 overall and were 7-2 in conference games. They have a new head coach in Miles Kochevar for the 2022 season. CMU is in Grand Junction, CO.
