Rock Springs Archie Hay Post 24 legion player Ryan Powers will continue his baseball career at Menlo College in California this fall.

The Rock Springs High School senior played for the Sand Puppies during the 2019 season.

One of his best performances on the mound came in the first round at the Class ‘AA’ State Tournament in Gillette last July. Powers held the host Gillette Roughriders to one run on three hits over 6.2 innings pitched. He struck out four with just one walk. It allowed Rock Springs to nearly pull off an upset but they fell to the Roughriders, 2-1 in eight innings.

Rock Springs finished with a record of 18-32 during the 2019 season.

If American Legion Baseball in Wyoming is allowed to play in the summer of 2020 (on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic), Powers will get to play his senior season before heading off to join the Oaks, who compete at the NAIA level.
