Saratoga’s Tuker Carricato Wins World Title in Bareback at NHSFR
Saratoga's Tuker Carricato had a night to remember as he captured the World title in the bareback at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Gillette. Carricato finished with 240 on 3 and recorded an 80 in the first go-round which placed 2nd, then a 76 in the 2nd go-round for 3rd, and in the championship short go on Saturday night, he capped the week off with an 84 which was the best effort in the finals. Also in the bareback, Roedy Farrell from Thermopolis took 8th in the average with 212 on 3.
Over in the saddle bronc, the top finisher from Team Wyoming was Jake Schlattmann of Greybull with 194 on 3. In bull riding, Hayden Welch from Gillette was 5th in the average with 152. Bohdi Coombs from Wellington, Colorado, who competes for the Wyoming team was 4th in the steer wrestling with a combined time of 15.58. In the tie-down roping, Jace Mayfield had a strong rodeo with a 4th place finish in the average at 30.44. In team roping, Kash Reynolds from Rozet and Talon Larson from Gillette placed 13th in the aggregate at 16.56. Over in the boys cutting event, Adam Belus from Buffalo was 55th with 265.
On the ladies' side, Abigail Olson had a great rodeo as she took 4th in the barrel racing with a combined time of 52.169. Shaya Lesmeister of Rozet was 11th in that event at 52.866. Caitlin Moore from Wright was 20th in the pole bending and won the first 2 go-rounds. Rae Lee Caldwell of Gillette took 33rd in the breakaway roping at 6.95 while Hadley Thompson of Yoder was 42 in the goat tying at 17.5. Baliegh Lane out of Huntley was 33rd in the reined cow horse event with 564.5
The Wyoming boys' team was outstanding as they took 3rd with 3565 points. Texas finished first with 7825. The Wyoming girls' team placed 11th with 1855 points and the combined Wyoming team took 6th with 5420 points.
