One of the boys' Milward Simpson Award finalists is Texas Tanner from Sheridan and frankly, he is very good at everything he does athletically. At the State Track Meet last month in Casper, Tanner threw 194 feet 2 inches to win the discus, and earlier in the season, he threw 199-9 in a meet in South Dakota. Tanner took 2nd in the shot put with a toss of 61 feet 10 inches, behind Cam Burkett of Kelly Walsh who ended up breaking the overall state record at 65 feet 10 and a quarter inch. He was the state indoor champion in the shot-put at 58-10.

Tanner was named all-state in football for Sheridan on the defensive line and made 44 tackles with 5 sacks this past season. He's a solid all-around athlete and will be attending the Air Force in the fall to compete in track and field.

We caught up with him after his championship effort in the discus at the State Meet in Casper. Enjoy!
