It has been a trying season for Shoshoni wrestler Pehton Truempler. He missed a good portion of his senior season with an injury and yet won a 2A State Championship at 182 pounds with a fall over Landon Heaps of Kemmerer on Saturday in Casper. Truempler wrestled just 22 matches this season but won them all, which is a testament to his outstanding ability on the mat. In a true wrestling tradition, Truempler put his shoes on the center of the mat as a signal that his prep wrestling career was over.

Last season, he was the 2A state champion at 52 pounds with a record of 45-8 and as a sophomore, he won a state title at 145 pounds with an exceptional record of 45-1. His freshman year in wrestling was a live-and-learn experience and still was 6th at 138 pounds but did make the semi-finals.

Truempler is an all-state football player with over 2000 yards rushing and will go down as one of the greatest athletes in the history of the school. We had a chance to chat with him after his title match and he was a happy guy!
