2024 Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championship Preview

The Wyoming High School Nordic Skiing State Championships are this weekend to conclude the 2024 prep season. The Casper Mountain Trails Center serves as the host site on Friday and Saturday. This year’s championships feature a shorter freestyle race and a longer classic race. Natrona’s Ally Wheeler is back to defend her titles in both disciplines. Lander’s Bennett Hutchison won the boys’ skate race in 2023. There will be a new champion in the classic race for the boys.

GIRLS CHAMPIONSHIP BREAKDOWN:

Defending Champ = Lander (seeking 2nd consecutive title & 12th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = Ally Wheeler from Natrona County won both the Classic & Freestyle races last year.

Teams Participating = Cody, Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Lander, Laramie, Natrona County, Pinedale, Sheridan

Schedule:

Friday: 5km Freestyle or Skate race, 10 a.m. (15-second intervals; 5-minute gap after the last boy has started)

Saturday: 10km Classic race, 10 a.m. (mass start)

Defending Champ = Jackson (seeking a 6th straight title, 35th in school history)

Defending Event Champs = Bennett Hutchison of Lander won last year’s freestyle race. There will be a new champion in the classic race.
