Wyoming High School Skiing Scoreboard: Dec. 13-14, 2024
The 2024-25 high school Nordic Skiing season begins this weekend in Jackson with the Betty Woolsey Classic. Trail Creek Ranch Nordic Facility in Wilson will be the site to start the season. Friday’s skiing is a 1.25 km Skate Sprint race at 1 p.m. Saturday’s race is a Classic race starting at 10 a.m. The distance will depend on the age of the competitors. The U18/20 division will be a 10 km race. The U16 will be a 5 km race, and the U14 will be 2.5 km.
Saturday's race is changed to a skate due to low snow levels on the course.
The schools competing this weekend are Casper Kelly Walsh, Casper Natrona County, Cody, Jackson, Lander, Laramie, Pinedale, and Sheridan.
This is the third straight year the Nordic season will start on time.

WyoPreps Nordic Skiing Breakdown for 2025
Two-time defending state champion Ally Wheeler of Natrona County leads the girls’ contestants entering the new season. Wheeler has been dominant when competing in high school races. She won last year’s state championship races by 1:12 and 2:44, respectively. Other top contenders who return for the 2024-25 season include Ameya Eddy of Lander, Twyla Beason of Lander, Kayley Alicke from Sheridan, Julia Veauthier of Kelly Walsh, Elisa Wachob from Cody, and Pinedale’s Olivia Tolson.
Defending classic state champion Fisk-Bergstrom Johansson of Kelly Walsh in Casper enters as the favorite in the boys’ division for 2025. Kalel Brubaker will contend after a third and fourth in the two races at the state championships last February. Lander's Mack White, Laramie's Jack Voos and Darin Binning, NC’s William Blair and Hunter Pickett, and Everett Roberson from Kelly Walsh High School all figure to be a factor.
There are always skiers who have competed in the club ranks and not for their high school, which we are not aware of. That can change the outlook.
Kelly Walsh, Lander, and Jackson will vie for the team crowns.
The 2025 season wraps up with the state championships hosted by Laramie at the Happy Jack Recreation Area on February 28 and March 1 with a 5 km classic race and a 10 km skate race.
