Enough snow is around for alpine skiers to compete this weekend, but thanks to deteriorating conditions because of the warmer weather this week, Nordic skiers will not compete. Alpine heads north for the Cody Invite, while Nordic is postponed for two weeks. The high school skiing season is at Week 7.

The third event on the downhill schedule is the Cody Invite at Red Lodge, MT. The race will feature slalom on Friday and GS on Saturday. Both races will be held on the 'Lower Limited' ski run at Red Lodge Mountain Ski Area. Both days are scheduled to start at 10 a.m.

Cody will host racers from Jackson, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Natrona County, and Pinedale.

Friday Race Results

Jackson claimed the top three spots. Kylie MacMillan won the races with a 2-run combined time of 1:36.58. Annie Moll was second (1:46.69), and Ceci Bruno took third (1:47.76). Jackson leads the team race with 66 points.

Final Boys Team Scores = Jackson 102, Pinedale 101.5, Kelly Walsh 48.5, Laramie 45, Natrona County 26, Cody 17.

Ceci Bruno from Jackson won the girls' GS race at 1:47.86. Teammates Annie Moll (1:50.20) and Maddie Ryan (1:51.03) finished second and third, respectively.

Jackson's Travis D'Amours made it a weekend sweep after taking 1st place in the GS after a two-run combined time of 1:35.43. Liam Logan from Jackson was second (1:38.57), and Brett Lane of Jackson took third (1:38.63).

Nordic Skiing

The Cody Invite at Pahaska was postponed on Wednesday. The warm weather during this week hurt trail conditions in that area, so the race is now set for Feb. 16-17, 2024. They’re hoping for more snow between now and then. It means cross-country skiers will have a second consecutive weekend off from high school racing.
