The Southeast girls basketball team advanced to the 2A state championship game in 2018-19 and lost at the buzzer to Wyoming Indian. That heartbreaking defeat shouldn't detract from yet another solid season for the Cyclones who qualified for state for the 8th consecutive year. Southeast started state tournament play with a 37-22 with over Shoshoni as Hailey Anderson was the only player in double figures with 10. In the 2A semi-finals, Southeast won again, this time over Lusk 36-35 in a thrilling game. Ellie Schmidt had 13 and the Cyclones won this game despite going 0-9 from 3 point land. Southeast gave Wyoming Indian all they could handle in the state title contest before falling 49-46. Schmidt had an excellent game with 19 points as the Cyclones finished the year 18-7. Schmidt and Anderson were both named all-state and both were seniors. Next year's team will have 3 seniors and 2 juniors.
