Powell's Kinley Cooley set some lofty goals this season after finishing 13th in the 2023 3A Cross Country Meet. Not only did she win the 2024 State Championship, Cooley did not lose a race this year. Her distance running skills have been well documented as she placed 3rd in the 3200 Meters at the 2023 3A State Track Meet along with a 5th place finish in the 1600 and 6th in the 800.

Cooley easily outdistanced the field at the Little America Course on Saturday in Cheyenne at 19:08.14 with Cody freshman Raina Wachob taking 2nd with a time of 19:38.64. Her teammate Haile Schramm improved from a 10th place finish a year ago at State Cross Country to take 3rd in 19:44.70. Buffalo freshman Ellie Farris was 4th and her teammate Maya Hall was 5th. She placed 3rd in the 2023 State Meet. Defending champion Zena Tapia of Worland placed 7th in 2024.

Cody won the 3A team championship with 3 runners in the top 10 and finished with 37 points. Powell had 2 runners in the top 10 to take 2nd with 64 and Buffalo with 2 in the top 10 took 3rd.
