Even though Star Valley won its 7th consecutive 3A state title, it didn't look like the Braves were having a very good time in the championship round on Saturday. They had 5 guys in the finals and the first 4 lost, albeit one was an injury default. So at 195, Harrison Hoopes was there to save the day. His match with Jace Grant of Cody was entertaining and it was a match that Hoopes easily could have lost. But he displayed remarkable perseverance and beat Grant 10-6, sealing another team title for the Braves. Hoopes went 42-0 this season which is a remarkable accomplishment at any level. Grant had a solid year as well, going 27-12. The 3rd place finisher in 3A 195 was Colter Haws of Burns/Pine Bluffs and Jimmy Dees of Powell took 4th.

In 4A, Brendyn Nelson of Natrona put the finishing touches on a 2nd straight 4A title for the Mustangs with a pin over Keagan Bartlett of Cheyenne Central. Nelson's first love is football but really improved on the mat this season en route to a 36-4 record. Bartlett's wrestling pedigree is well documented and wrapped up the year at 43-6. In 3rd place at 195 was Aiden Selcher of Sheridan with Dillon Glick of Thunder Basin 4th,

Over in 2A, Zane Collins of Lovell won the state championship at 195 as he defeated Charlee Thomson of Wright. Thomson had to retire thanks to an ankle injury and that's a tough way to end the season and conclude his prep career. Collins is a junior and he was sharp this year with a record of 44-5. Thomson was 28-4. Jordan Quade of Saratoga was 3rd and Jarek Sorensen from Thermopolis placed 4th.

We do have some video of these championship matches. Take a look!
