WYOPREPS STATE TENNIS PREVIEW 2026
Last week's regional champions were the Cheyenne Central girls and boys in the South, and the Kelly Walsh girls and Jackson boys in the North. All four of those squads had a regional title in at least two positions within their lineup.
It starts with Jackson's Caroline Brokaw. She's the defending champion at No. 1 singles. After missing a few matches, Brokaw found her stride again by winning the regional last weekend. She's favored entering the championships.
The Central girls are the three-time defending state champions and a favorite to earn a fourth straight title. They won four of the five positions at the South Regional last weekend. Cailyn Smedley has won the last two titles at No. 2 singles. She’s now at No. 1 singles. The Indians have strong doubles teams at all three positions.
The chief competition will come from Kelly Walsh, the North Regional champs, and Jackson. KW had regional winners at No. 2 singles and two doubles spots. Jackson had the other two girls’ titles at regionals. Players from Green River, Laramie, Thunder Basin, Cheyenne South, and more will be in the mix across the court.

The race for the boys’ team trophies will come down to who does not get upset at certain positions. Jackson and Cheyenne Central won the regional crowns, but there are teams and players from other schools that will play a role. Sheridan, Thunder Basin, Campbell County, Laramie, and Green River have shown strongly at different times this season.
At singles, William Freymann from Jackson, David Smedley from Cheyenne Central, Ben Bujans from Sheridan, Jackson Moore from Thunder Basin, Cody Litynski from Laramie, Leland Jenkins from Campbell County, and Lucas Arnold from Green River are a threat on any given day. The No. 2 singles spot is led by Jackson’s Luke Gentile, Central’s Sam Smedley, Kelly Walsh’s Bode Strand, and Green River’s Kaiden Olson, who are the top contenders.
Doubles can always be difficult to predict, but there are some favorites from some of the team leaders, like Kelly Walsh, Jackson, Central, Thunder Basin, and more, but there are definitely some dark horses to look out for this weekend.
That’s why we always say, don’t be stunned if a surprise or two happens at the state championships. Who will it be in 2026? Good luck to all!
